I met an actress late last year and our casting agent, Lou Mitchell. She’s young but has been working steadily, and Lou recommended I take a look at her because she is up and coming, whatever that means. So she and her agent read the script and wanted to meet me, and I was shitting myself, thinking that they would ask hard technical questions or grill me about how I was going to shoot her fighting with her original, both played by the same actress. But instead they just seemed to want to meet me and chat about the script, which they both loved, thank god. I burbled on too much because I was nervous, but it was so exciting to sit with someone and talk about your work and begin to imagine being there on set with actors, all going on the same journey together. I love actors. I think what they do is amazing. I used to act, but I was shit at it because I like to hide too much. Writers hide in words. You can’t hide a goddamn thing when you are on screen. It’s like every audience member is your lover who wants to know your very insides.
