Watched 13 Days on the hotel TV and my mind drifted off to lighting and the problem it presents me when I’ve got so little time. I’ve spent enough hours on set to see how lighting something beautifully eats up time, so I thought suddenly what if you lit something ‘badly’, or just broke the rules? Do we really need that cutesy light in the corner to give it all a lovely 3D perspective, or do we really just need to see our character’s faces? Do we need a hair light, a soft modeling light on the other cheek? Anyway, too much chocolate box beauty makes me sick. Life is in the flaws.
